Texas History
Shortly after the birth of one of my children, I went to the World's Fair in San Antonio. I still have the souvenir guidebook and am herein quoting a passage from it in answer to many questions about what Texas is like. It's such a perfect description of this State where I was born and raised, I can't resist.
"Texas holds within its borders great cities that thrust skyscraper silhouettes against an immense sky; vast plains and respectably high mountains, sweeping beaches and deep forests, great seaports and teeming inland markets; rivers both big and small, lakes, and stark, barren mesa." More Texana
